Apprentice Toby Loveridge from Malvern Stone and Building Services speaks to the WCAA about his experience.

Why did you want to enrol in an apprenticeship with the WCAA?

I am quite a practical person so I liked the idea of learning a trade. Bricklayers are in high demand at the moment so I knew that I would always find work with this particular skill.

The benefit of an apprenticeship is that I can learn on site as well as in the classroom.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The job is really varied and I like that I’m working outside and not stuck in an office all day. The only downside is having to travel to different sites but you get used to that.

What is your biggest achievement to date?

Laying my first brick. Having worked as a labourer for a while it was good to be able to do something different.
